Continuing on with our theme of celebrating (with last week’s focus on teams), we’re looking at how we can celebrate on a more individual level. 

It’s been a tough year and we all deserve a little recognition for making it through, but it can be difficult to celebrate our own achievements. 

Research has shown that celebrating has hugely positive impacts, even if it’s a ‘small win’ – the key is to keep it authentic. There can be a huge amount of guilt when it comes to congratulating ourselves and of course it’s all about balance (no one likes a show off). 

So, what was the last thing you did that you were proud of and/or that made you smile? Why not celebrate your latest achievement, even if it was just replying to that difficult email that has been sat in your inbox all week? Celebrating small wins has been shown to improve mental health, combat boredom and boost momentum in your career, in turn making you a better colleague, friend and family member.

Perhaps we should all do as the Romans do and treat ourselves to a glass or two of our favourite (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) wine… Here’s to us!
