In the last two weeks, I have explored:

Even though many people want to do more of this, they often don’t because it’s hard to find the time to make it happen. I have found that the increased levels of pressure in firms since the start of 2020 has added to this problem.

In my coaching sessions with senior business development people, many decide to book regular blocks in their calendar to focus on proactive activity like this. I ask them to treat this time as they would treat it with a client and not let it get hijacked by other things. Otherwise, something else will always take precedence. We discuss when they are most likely to be in the right frame of mind for this activity during the week and least likely to have the slot overridden.

Why not start off by booking in just one hour a week for proactive business development? You’ll soon see the benefits.
